strengthening communities. changing lives.

Palomar Health, along with LightBridge Medical Associates and The Elizabeth Hospice, is forming a unique collaboration to improve the care of palliative patients in North San Diego County.  The organizations have combined their expertise and experience in this medical specialty to create an unprecedented inpatient Palliative Care program at Palomar Health. This partnership will produce exceptional quality of care to the communities served by Palomar Health.

For people with serious illness and their families, palliative care is specialized medical care that focuses on providing relief from pain and other symptoms and supporting the best possible quality of life for the longest possible time, no matter the diagnosis. Palomar Health’s Palliative Care Consultation services are offered to hospitalized and emergency department patients.  To make a gift in support of Palliative Care click here.

rendezvous with palomar health's culinary team

Palomar Health’s culinary wizards participated in an event called “Rendezvous” at Liberty Station September 10 and rubbed elbows with chefs from some of San Diego’s top restaurants. It gave Javier Guerrero, Palomar’s Food and Nutrition Operations Manager, and his team a chance to show off their healthy culinary skills.  “The Rendezvous allowed Palomar to feature prominently in the fundraiser to our commitment of prevention based practices, by allowing attendees to dine their way to delicious wellness,” said James Metzger, the Director of Hospitality at Palomar Health.  Palomar Health’s Guerrero will be in action at another event on October 29, as he and hospital culinary experts from Sharp Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente and UC San Diego Health will compete in a cook-off. All of the chefs will be creating plant-based patient menu items for the competition.
